HIRS
Humeral Intracondylar Repair System
The Humeral Intracondylar Repair System (HIRS) is designed to optimise healing and support favourable outcomes in the management of humeral intracondylar fissures (HIF).
Clinical Evidence
Long-term follow-up studies of HIRS in dogs with humeral intracondylar fissures and humeral condylar fractures have reported favourable clinical outcomes, including healing in all documented fissure cases and a low major complication rate, supporting its use as a reliable management option.
Stepped drill bit
The HIRS drill-bit made from Stainless Steel is designed to simultaneously drill a hole of varying diameter, simplifying the procedure and creating a void around the central section that is packed with DBM putty.
The drill bit features three laser-etched depth markings corresponding to implant lengths: 28 mm, 32 mm, and 36 mm Drilling guidance:
- To 1st etch = 28 mm
- Between 1st and 2nd etch = 30 mm
- To 2nd etch = 32 mm
- Between 2nd and 3rd etch = 34 mm
- To 3rd etch = 36 mm
Accurate drilling depth is critical to correctly prepare the trans-thread, void, and cis-thread regions for optimal implant seating and compression
- Titanium alloy, headless, self-tapping, self-compressing screw providing stable fixation, compression across the fissure, and low-profile placement
- Apply the principles of non-union management to HIF – debridement of sclerotic bone to allow vascular access, bone grafting for healing and stable fixation with compression
- Stepped drill bit design creates a variable-diameter tunnel with a central void for Demineralised Bone Matrix (DBM) placement
- HIRS Management Package available with Custom guide & humerus model, HIRS and DBM nanopaste 0.5 cc
